Thanks for the help Lapua, the 6.5-06 is very close to the 6.5PRC performance wise. My 6.5 is a lightweight hunting rifle. I am thinking I need something a little more suited for long range and sustained practice, this is why the lower recoil rounds hold appeal for me. My current long range rifle is a fast twist 22-250 shooting 75 Amax. It is fun as I can usually spot my shots. It has limitations though.
After 800 yds the wind gets me and spotting bullet impacts gets difficult.
The 6.5 Creed is probably the sweet spot, I am worried about velocity loss with the 17" barrel. The 280 makes a lot of sense , with the suppressor it should be very well behaved from the bench.
