They are beasts and sharpen easy.



You bet. good old 1095 steel with a sensible heat treat. I believe Rockwell 57-58 or so.


Negative. You need a super alloy, with a Rockwell in the 60s so that you can skin a buffalo, prepare supper, and shave your beard for 3 years without hitting a sharpening stone.



Yeah that seems to be a trend.

I like easy to sharpen on a basic stone.
