It has to do with both size and BC. For example if you think you need a stout, heavier bullet for big animals the biggest Partition
you can shoot in your .270 is 160 grains; the biggest for the .280 is 175 grains. The heaviest TTSX Barnes lists for the .270 is 130 grains;
for the .280 it's 150.

.270cal TSX is available in 130,140,150



Yes, I know. And there are others that make big bullets for .270s, like Matrix. But if you go back and look at the post I was responding to, you'll see that the poster specifically mentioned a few different brands and makes of bullets, including Bergers, TTSXs, and Partitions, so his examples are what I used to show that bigger bullets are available in the .280..
