My old pal, Dean Carlton, from Iowa City, with a great 6X6 he took with one shot, with his .300 Weatherby. We executed a text book stalk, and he made a perfect shot at about 200 yards. It was his first elk, and I'll never forget the look on his face when we walked up to him. We never said a word. He was a man who really took it all in. He sure loved Montana....

Only a few short years later, Dean died suddenly of a heart attack at 57.
