... Yeah man it’s insane how enormous our state is. There are people who live further from the state capital than the state capital is from DC.
And the most amazing thing? The UP came to us as appeasement on behalf of Ohio with whom we disputed over TOLEDO! Ha who is laughing over that one now huh?
That trip through UP, Wis, Minn, ND, & Mt is some wild gorgeous country I love it.

Cousin's husband graduated from UM a LONG time ago. One of his class mates grew up and lived in the UP. After they graduated, his buddy attended every Michigan home football game for something in the neighborhood of 40 years. IIRC, something like 9 hours and 450 miles EACH WAY...
As far as trading Toledo for the UP... I think Michigan got the better end of the deal...
