Gee, what's with the roundabout ?

Simply put: it is a "means to an end".

More specifically, it is a 30’ diameter pen constructed of hog panel and tee-posts with a sendero cut around it.

It allows the deer to access the spin cast feeders but keeps the hogs out. If one does not have a pen around his feeder it tends to severely limit the number of deer seen. Deer do not like the smell of an area that is dominated by hogs, and the hogs eat all the corn/protein spun out by the spin-cast feeder within minutes of the timer going off.

Here is a +/-26 hour sequence from a feeder where there is no pen .

Read top left to bottom right, descending order for correct sequence.

IIRC the feeder spins 5 seconds at 7AM, 8 AM, 6 PM and 7 PM.

One can see how quickly the hogs are on the corn.

I count one deer.

Although perforating hoglets is my passion, I do like venison backstraps, sausage and jerky!

ya!
