Ya the east of Billings for the cats. Take a spinning rod with a mepps when the goldeneye shiners come through in schools you catch the chit out of them. Take a fillet of them put on a hook with a simple sinker... tie up to a large cottonwood log jam, a hole will be scoured out under the jam, lower the bait and hang on! this is there bedroom and mid day you can catch one or two per a hole before they wise up.
As the sun goes down find a big hole with a sand bar pitch a tent, build a fire and fish the hole as long as you can stay awake, they roam and hunt at night.
Cold clean water cats fight and taste better than any others.

Fred Robinson is a great spot, downstream towards Slippery Ann is elk central.... good paddle fish hole also
