The overwhelming majority of people are not convinced by empirical evidence or reason, but by rhetorical means. And music, photography, images, and music are strong rhetorical devices. As is the deliberate infliction of emotional pain by calumny and threats of isolation form the group. Which is why so many online and IRL debates devolve to name-calling and calls for banishment.
