Rumors identify it as caliche mud. It's slippery, so some of us skidded and landed on our backsides when we stepped out of trucks at the blinds. It's sticky and gloppy; the whitetails that show up at the feeders appear to have baseballs rather than hooves at the ends of their legs. --Bob
It's Montmorillonite clay--essentially the same thing as bentonite that is used in drilling mud. Enjoy!
