Pence isn't my guy either for the very same reason. I'm generally against the mix of church and state and he wears his religion openly on his sleeve.
While I don't believe in forcing religion upon anyone, I think that the biggest factor in the shape our country is in is because we have gotten away from the Christian values upon which it was founded. The founding fathers used the Bible as one of the cornerstones of our foundation. God was foremost in their minds, and our history acknowledges that. I see nothing wrong with a president being very open about his religious views, and I think to do so would be a good thing.
