Where do people get the idea that the Bible promotes a flat earth? Scripture says, “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth”
Isaiah 40:22

There's a lot of Scripture like that good one you just quoted.

It used to be that the only ones who would bring flat earth up would be accusations the atheists would ascribe to christians. They would take the side of Columbus supposed that the Bible was wrong because some Vatican dogma. They were taught that Columbus had nothing to do with God and the ignorant Catholic monks didn't want any competing theories on their flat earth theory. So, the atheists would superimpose that upon Bible believing christians. Now there's a fairly new trend of the flat earthers that want to borrow our Bible to "prove" their obsession.
It doesn't, but they do a good job of wresting the Scriptures and teaching "science falsely so called."

That said, I am glad you stand on the Bible the right way with Isaiah.

On the first subject, the age of the earth from the time of creation is determined by the genealogies and ages given. I'm not a Hebrew scholar, but there were those who were at the time of Christ. Since then, the world's most renounced translators of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were used by the Lord to give us accurate english translations. I don't think the Dead Sea sect offers any improvement, nor the Egyptian. So many words have synonyms. However, Jesus quoted Genesis the same way it was translated as we have it in the majority text and KJV.

In order for the Hindu religion of evolution to be believable to the average person, it is given unlimited time for chance to turn disorder into the complex order of our humanity. For a hundred years, the liberal higher critics have organized in seminaries to influence all denominations to this end. If they can insert an unlimited amount of time upon Genesis 1, they have effectively used the tactic that the serpent used with Eve. This undermines the rest of God's Word and provides for the possibility of the Hindu religious beliefs that pass for science in government training centers/schools.
