Good. The prices for 29's, particularly "pinned and recessed" 29's (a meaningless feature given the strength of modern brass; and an unreliable proxy for overall mechanical quality, given that P&R'd guns were made well into the late 1970s after S&W quality had begun to decline precipitously) on Gunbroker are ridiculous.

A "want to buy" ad here should shake one loose for a decent price. Any pre-29, 29, 29-1 or a 29-2 with an "S" prefix serial number (indicating pre-1969 production) would make a great piece; the "N" prefix guns made before 1979 are generally quite good as well but I wouldn't buy one sight unseen unless it was from someone whose opinion I trusted.

If you want a more recent gun, I'd hold out for a 29-4 or 29-5 as they have all the modern "Endurance Package" features while still being relatively finely finished and without MIM parts or the internal lock.
