LOL, that's a good question.
That was in south Texas. Most guys I knew referred to that as a Fallow. That one had light spots on it exactly like an Axis deer but it's hide was much darker than any Axis I'd seen or killed.
Long story short, every Texan I asked, gave me a different answer. The landowner stated very clearly he wanted all "freakshows" (exotics) shot so I knew it was OK to pop her. There was more than one out on that property. I always meant to show my then neighbor/biologist Bob Zaiglin a picture but I never did.
