Someone mentioned Jack Ryan a while back, so I checked it out. I got through it, but man, what a strange way to write a story. Building characters so that they appear they're going to be pivotal, or at least consequential, only to discover that they're only in a couple episodes, and that they're simply peripheral characters seems strange to me. The plot was loose and unguided and ended up somewhere that wasn't expected, and not in a redeeming way.
