Lazzeroni is still in business--and I got to know him a little back in the era when short-fat-beltless magnums were the BIG DEAL. John claimed his cartridges got super-velocities was the case shape, including shoulder-angle, etc.

But one of my fellow gun writers, who's retired now but at the time was the gun guy for a major magazine, knew a thing or two about interior ballistics. This sounded suspicious to him, so he had Lazzeroni send him a couple test rifles and some of their ammo. The ammo got very close to the claimed velocities--but in strain-gauge testing the pressures were at least 70,000 psi....
