Guns? They're dangerous. People being shot will increase the cost of healthcare. We have to ban them.
Hamburgers? You can't eat that. Think of your fellow countrymen! Ban em.
Reproduction? The last thing we need is another person sucking up healthcare money! You can't have any more kids!
Shall I go on?

Greg,

I don't disagree with you. This is not a good situation, but this is the reality.

What I am telling you is we are already there. We got there 50 years ago with the advent of Medicare. Government has controlled Healthcare for everyone over 65 years of age for 50 years. You and I haven't really noticed much because you and I aren't 65+. You are saying the equivalent "If you don't stop smoking, you will get cancer" I'm the doc telling you "Too late, you've got cancer and it's bad. Go ahead and smoke. Too late now to fix it." You can cling to a miracle, but short of Divine intervention, I'm not seeing a real solution.

If you want to put it that way, Big Brother won the Healthcare fight. The Socialists won. It is not good,, but the battle was lost a long, long time ago and we just didn't realize it at the time. Medicare and Social Security are the real forces bankrupting us You can never take them away. Now that the ACA has been implemented, you can't take away covering pre-existing conditions or premium subsidies.

I would gladly scrap the ACA and anything that resembles it. I wanted to go back to pre ACA situation and I expected we could do that, that is until I watched Congress over the past 2 months. They will not do it for all of the reasons I have outlined in detail. It has become abundantly clear that neither side will go back. It doesn't matter if you throw them all out and send a new bunch there. After an election or two, we'd be right back to this spot. The voters like it.

I'm still looking for a viable alternative. I give you a chance to show me a path out of it. A realistic path. Hoping for Congress to do there right thing is not realistic. They could have scuttled this in 2011 or 12, but not now. The baby has been born.
