Medicare should never have passed, but it's toxic now, same with the Ponzi scheme of Social Security. Too many people dependent on it, knowing they'll never pay for it fully, but not about to give it up.
The Demonrats knew this going in, no matter how dysfunctional, they could play to the baser instincts of a major voter segment, the Free Stuff crowd.
The problem is that nobody is connected to the COSTS of their individual care, they never have to ask themselves, "Is this worth it? If this was MY money, would I pay this price?" And because they don't ask, costs are in interstellar orbit and that won't change.
I'm glad I'm not going to be around for when the entire house of cards collapses -- because it will.
