I don't dismiss this penetration testing as irrelevant, it's part of my research, which ultimately leads to real testing on animal flesh. I have photos of every bullet I tested earlier this year and indeed the .45s were soft across the board. You can clearly see it in the photos. As was predictable, the bullets that maintained their nose shape penetrated the deepest.

And I haven't abandoned the .44 and still go back to it for some tasks, but the really heavy lifting is left to bigger, more capable calibers.

Is there any way that these discussions can take place without getting nasty??
