I have two 338 fed rifles, a Tikka lite and a Ruger 77 Hawkeye. The tikka shoots 185 ttsx at 2750 and the Ruger likes the factory 210 partitions or I handload the 160ttsx @ 2990.
I truly believe this is the most underrated caliber and it doesn't get enough credit.

My only shot on game was a quartering away 230 yard shot on a mountain goat using the Tikka and 185ttsx. The bullet did not strike a rib entering, split the heart in two and exited striking and breaking the left front leg. The goat hunched and fell over, DRT.

concerning the earlier post, recoil is very minimal which allowed me to watch the impact on the goat. I dont' think I could've done this with my 300WM or 30-06.
