The rush to judgement in this thread and other previous ones is telling.

I disagree sir. Plenty of people in jail are first time offenders.
These guys shouldn't get a pass because they are cops. Qualified immunity doesn't protect someone who knowingly violates someone's rights. Problem is whether someone is willing to risk the arrest and treatment by bully cops and an unknown court and legal process. These bully cops don't discriminate about who they target. Anyone deemed weaker is fair game.
I think too many cops are just trying to get along by staying silent and turning a blind eye because they don't want a target on their backs too.
Start making cops pay insurance costs to cover lawsuits and this will help stop some of this nonsense.
Just make all legal costs come out of the collective police retirement fund. Give every cop a stake in the misbehavior of other cops and this stuff will stop.
