I'm the new man on board - so all I can say is- this is all funny !! I just got finished reading the "turd" description. I will just post this as my first post and stand by it :
Leupold is hands down the best scope on the market - yes its true you can pay more for a "name" as in those so called "top end scopes" but none come close to Leupold as far as reliability and function goes.Give me a 4.5x14x50 everytime and you wont hear me complain !!
What other company do you know will fix or repair a scope or send you a new one even if your not the original onwer or buyer-

Disagree on reliability and function. Leupold's best feature is lightweight as well as comfortable eye relief and large eyebox.
Optically they are not the best Durability not the best adjustments not the best
but yes they do "work"
they a great reputation for customer service because alot of people have used it
