I have read some stuff about that which came to the conclusion that it wasn't Tom, but another close relative (probably his brother) who poked the Darkie.
The Left is desperate to claim it was TJ. It was surely a Jefferson, but the proof that it was TJ is far from conclusive and there are lots of reasons to think it was not.
