That said, I never shelled out the money for sheep hunts like my friends did....sort of wish I did now that I'm getting old.
I love big mule deer...killed a few decent ones but never what I'd call big.
There was a time that those giant bears really drove me nuts.
I'd go to those big shows and those giant Browns and Grizzlies just mesmerized me.
In '96 I booked with an Alaskan outfitter that was taking some huge interior bears.
We saw a couple of 9 footers but they got away due to bad wind and crunchy snow.
(The guide took his kid after one of those giants that got away from us an he killed it, I'll find a photo later)
I settled for a small 7 1/2 footer after 17 days of hunting.
I still had the big bear fever badly and after 5 years was booked with a top Brown Bear guide on Kodiak.
I got lucky on that hunt, killing a 10 foot plus Booner.
Of all the hunts I've done, that one really stands out along with the hunts with my son.
