Dogshooter and I had some thoughts on this on Monday morning, and it is tough to put a number on it, but this what we came up with.
If I can't hit an 8" tall, 11" wide target at the range in question, EVERY time, then it's too far for me. I don't want shots drifting out of that area, period. It may sound limiting, but I've been on enough rodeos with game animals to wane very far from that.
