Reading wind and calling misses can't be overlooked. Wildwyo proved it. Buck fever will suck the life outta a lot of range time. Like Tanner, my "practice" starts with 2 cold bore (well, one cold, one warm) shots on 10" steel at 505 yards. 20+ mph winds last trip really made for interesting trigger time. One miss, one hit, and taking notes. 500 isn't considered long by most, but its long enough for me.
