Turns out they are called "citations", us teachers insist the kids include them all the time,
especially when they didn't compose anything but instead just copied a body of pre-existing text entire.
The people who provided the original info are called the "Virginia Historical Society" (
http://www.vahistorical.org/), they claim to be a credible source.
Might be infiltrated by Yankees by now though, who knows?
