reporting back from the old country. Had a great night out. 43° F, steady wind, half moon, high, thin cloud cover and a untilled 50 ha cornfield of last years...
Sat at dusk and two hours into the night with no movement save for a hare.
Took to my feet then looping around the stand with a half wind in my back glassing. Plan was to get across under wind and walk back to the car. On the way out already I spotted a single hog feeding. Wind was steady in my half back, angling away from the pig, so closer I stalked. At about 50 yards I took a kneeling shot (Blaser R8 .308 Win. suppressed, Hornady Monoflex Bullet @ 2550 fps). Hog went down.
