I'm 60 years old, bought my first 7mm Rem Mag in 1978 a Rem. 700 BDL and used it pretty religiously into the early 80's when I moved on to something else. Used lots of Hornady 154 gr. Spire Points,160 gr. Speer Flat Bases and a few 160 gr. NP's with IMR 4350 and H4831 back then. I've seen it used on game and long range targets since the late 70's. I'm not a raving fan but understand and respect it's performance in the field and the target range. That all being said, I have a Sako AV 7mm Rem. Mag. that I bought several years back, here on the 24 HCF. I have not hunted with it in 5 years or so, too many other things in the safe.
