Before moving to Colorado 25 years ago I bought a SS Savage in 7 Mag and put a 3X9 leupold on it, thinking elk were bullet proof. If spent a lot of time and money (I don't reload) trying to find a load that it liked. I finally found the sweet spot and wouldn't you know it I sold it to one of my students who really liked it. I never hunted that gun once although he put together a pretty god string of mule deer and elk kills with it. I am 60 years old and like many folks have already stated I am ok with hunting with rifles that recoil a whole lot less. Alas, back to my 6.5 roots.
