I'm 54. Never really been a big fan of the 7mm Rem. Mag, but recognized its attributes. My father offered to buy me a new rifle for my high school graduation in 1984 and told me that I couldn't go wrong with either a 30-06 or a 7mm mag. I've always been more Elmer Keith than JOC, so velocity wasn't my deciding factor and I went with the -06. I only acquired a 7mm RM back in 2014 through happenstance. I had a M70 Classic action and needed to put a barrel on it. Redneck happened to have a factory 7mm RM barrel ready and willing, so he screwed it on and I was set. I do think it is definitely a good cartridge, but I haven't shot anything with it since I'd rather carry other rifles and mess around with other cartridges.

By the way, my Dad is 80 years old and he bought a Weatherby Lightweight rifle in 7mm RM back around 2000, his first 7mm RM. He's killed maybe 6 elk, a few deer, and a Mountain goat with it. He loves the rifle and has never said anything bad about the 7mm RM.
