Most balls today are pretty good and I don’t think it makes much difference...except around the greens and there you can really tell the difference in some balls. Stay away from the cheapest balls...though some of them aren’t bad...and you’ll be alright.

But gone are the days when there are just bad balls like the MacGregor Tour that Nicklaus played a lot of his career with. Those balls were so bad that a lot of pros, like Hogan flat refused to play them. They would take MacGregor’s money and swap it out for something else after the first hole.
