2 Amateurs are better off hitting as much club as possible off tees. Very few golfers are as long as they think they are. Drivers have the largest sweetspot and the greatest room for error.
3. Percentages of up and downs are better even from rough nearer to the greens than they are from fairway approaches 150y and out.
4. Nothing impacts score as much as the prevention of three putting. Lag putts are critical. Get the ball close!

Well, maybe #4 is partially correct.

The longer the shaft & the "steeper" the club face, the less margin for error.
