I’m positive anything he is saying is approved by Putin and the GRU. Hyping the fear of revolution is to push the people to rally around the government. These are a people who have just emerged from the impoverishing instability of the ‘90s. They were lead out of that instability and into growing wealth by Putin. Any threat to stability will rally the people to Putin.
I think it's also to manipulate the CIA into false confidence.
