Greetings every one. I am brand new to this site; so please forgive me if I violate any rules or seem rude. I signed up because I have a question about a newely aquired Savage lever action .30-30. I know it is old, just how old I dont know. I was my grandfather's step brothers. A number is visible on the underside that is easily read. It is 1777XX. Can any of you experts tell me what the year of manufacture is on this old lever action. It does have a crack in the stock and I was wondering about replacing the stock with a new one.
