Thanks Norm, barrel measures 26" to the bolt face, round and tapered. The front sight is a white metal blade in a dovetail. Rear sight is marked Savage Arms Corp Utica NY Pat Pend. The barrel has 5 patent numbers, the last being June 1 1909. The receiver is marked Savage 1899 Model. S/N 275998. It has a crescent butt plate. It shows a few dings and normal handling wear, but it's totally unmolested otherwise. Never crossed paths with Bubba (or 'Tater)! I would eventually like to find a set of Stith mounts and a Lyman Alaskan to compliment it, but I'll have to save my pennies for that. BTW, I paid $280 for the 99
