I took it apart as far as I could and cleaned it last weekend. The original owner kept her clean. Other than dust she was very clean. Under the forearm it is stamped OPEN and has an arrow for direction but damned if I could get it to move. I was expecting copper fouling but the bore looks pristine. The fine crosshair scope is very clear for it's age. The scope and mount were made in the 30's or 40's best I can figure. I bought Remington brass and Speer 87 gr Hot Core bullets to stay true to the 250-3000's original design. Plus this rifle is a 1:14 twist which can be iffy with 100 gr ammo. From what I've read the Hot Core's work well on deer. There is also a varmint 87 gr version that is not good for deer.
