As Calhoun indicated, your gun, your choice. My thoughts are similar to JoeMartin in that reblueing will do nothing but remove it's history, which if I'm reading it correctly, is important to you. Rifles that are shiny and new can be bought anytime at the local gun shop, but a rifle your father and uncle put their marks on can't. Reblueing won't give it any more protection from the elements, keeping it wiped down with a good rust preventative (I prefer RIG) will. Enjoy that rifle and its history!
