Volume matters if you seat the same bullet to the same point (let’s say the neck/shoulder junction) in each case. If you load both the 260 and the 6.5 creedmoor to the same COAL of 2.810 to safely fit inside a Remington 700 short action magazine box, a 143 grain ELDX will take up much less powder room in the creedmoor case.
