In the 1970s, we had a pile of 6.5 x 55mms that hit the shores here. Myself and three other guys bought a couple of actions each, and one fully stocked, ready to fire rifle. Mine was a Carl Gustav. $25 each for the barreled actions and $40 for the Carl G. They sat in a pile for 10 or 12 years. I traded the Carl G away for a 22LR, and sold the barreled actions. None of us could figure out why we bought them. They were in good shape, but put bluntly, they were like having a third nipple. Useless.

We have a number of stores here that still stock the surplus 6.5x55s. And 30-06s, 9.3s of various lengths, 308s, etc. Imported from Europe. Most are used. I guess no one wants to buy used or surplus arms anymore.

There's about 20 pages of 6.5x55s. Some as cheap as $225. They are hard to get rid of, and have been for years.
