Interesting take.

To me, long action cartridges that perform like short action cartridges are not impressive.

humm.... 6mm Rem (Based on the 7x57), 6.5X55, 7X57, 8X57, ? ? ? perform like S As ? confused

I 'borrowed' BSA's pic of his Swedish Mauser -- (without permission) wink

The 6.5X Swede was NOT designed to be a S A.

A Pic is worth.......
Here is 270 W next to 6.5X55 loaded ammo

Americans have tried to shove STANDARD action cartridges INTO Short Actions.
This is a Mauser 98 - Standard action.

As long as I can remember Gun Writers have printed..... the 6mm Rem works better in a Standard Action.
Does ANYONE chamber the 7X57 Mauser in a Short Action ? (I don't know) It needs a Standard Action.
The 8X57 Mauser ? ? ?

There is a difference between a Standard Action and Long Action.

I've used Standard Actions & L As so many years that a Rem 700 S A is 'out of balance' to ME.
