As much of an ass that I believe Alec Baldwin is I don’t blame him at all for this. He’s an actor and it’s his job to use the stage props, not master proficiency in them.
Great analogy. A driver’s license doesn’t require NASCAR proficiency, so an occasional fatality due to bad driving isn’t the driver’s fault.
