I had a wife like that, I had to hide my hunting plans until the last moment or I was living with an angry woman for weeks before the trip came about and incessant queastions about how much it was going to cost etc. etc.

My wife now of five years knows EXACTLY how much this trip costs, and even with me unable to work she is totally great with me going, knows how much hunting and the campfire mean to me. Plus, this is one of few types of 'hunts' I can still do and she gets that.
