Last fall I shot one feral pig with a 230gr +P HST, 25 yards away, out of a Colt 1911. Less than perfect placement, but it went straight down and never got back up. Seemed pretty effective, and they cost a good deal less than Speer Gold Dot ammo, at least around here.

I've got some 275 gr Gold Dots for the 480 Ruger. I thought of them more of a deer than hog bullet, but I suspect they'd work, too.

But I am kinda curious about a .454 round ball, over 50 grains of Swiss FFFg... smile
