In a sense, the guy that made the statement is correct. Due to the general availability of great bullets, the .30-06 is a cannon for deer and 6.5s are adequate for pretty much adequate for everything in N.A. short of big bears and bison. That said, all ships rise in a rising tide and given that, the .30-06 is better than ever. There isn't much a 168 grain TTSX at 2900-3000 won't do.
