I've had on & off again relationship with the 06. At one time I had 5 and then went some yrs w/o one. I have a Rem M Six in 06 that I hunted and killed a couple of bucks w/last season.
All along I respected the 06 for its long history and success in the game fields. In the not too distant past I was even more impressed when 458 Win (Mr Phil) rated it (with appropriate bullets) a reliable round for Alaska Brown Bear. That says A LOT as far as I'm concerned.
One thing I never lost sight of is the availability of ammo everywhere even in Africa. There are reasons for that..
Sometimes people are short sighted or have a narrow field of view. The 06 certainly is not "all the rage" today and is overlooked or ignored for the new 'sensational' (popular) rounds.
Nonetheless, the 06 is just as lethal and dependable as ever, maybe more so due to better powders & bullets.
