I heard an hour or two ago that Germany was in a stir because Russia shut down the pipeline. What's up with that?

I am wondering what's up. I thought NATO countries weren't doing business with Russia.
I've thought from the start that Russia is holding some pretty strong cards. Oil, gas, a huge army, a huge nuclear arsenal, and most importantly nuts and guts.
