I doubt if Russia needed to be tipped off. It wasn't the first time it was attempted. I suspect that Russia has overwhelming force stationed around that reactor.

Russian gun ships took out the raid force when they got into boats, rafts on the north side of the dnieper river before they could cross the river in the dark early in the morning and decimated them killing over 300 uko spec op forces.
