If the Russian goal was to watch the US crash it’s economy, deplete it’s store of arms, have Russia forge closer ties to China, and provide impetus for an expanded BRICS while taking very real steps to remove the dollar as the world reserve currency, they are absolutely kicking ass.
I would imagine Putin is sitting back in his unmortgaged country watching with amusement while Khrushchev's prediction comes true. "We will so weaken your economy until you'll fall like over ripe fruit into our hands". We are writing hot checks while Russia is paying cash.
