Sin is collective. The Bible relates a number of times when God crushed a nation because of it's sin. Of course not everyone in the nation was grossly sinful. Look at what's going on in the US with abortion, homosexuality, and falling away from God. It's getting worse all the time. This was once a strong Christian nation and God blessed it but the last 50 years has been a spiral downward. Sooner or later, the penalty will have to be paid. God is very patient. He gave Canaan a full 500 years to clean up it's act before he sent in the Hebrews to destroy them all. Unfortunately, the Hebrews ignored God and didn't finish the job and look at the mess in the Middle East that has resulted from it.
