The men and women who actually knew Jesus personally and chose to follow Him weren’t immune to random and inexplicable tragedy and loss either. And in spite of believing that God could have kept these bad things from happening, they turned to Him for comfort and help anyway, right after they happened. I believe they continued trusting in, and turning to God because they witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. To the degree that our faith is anchored to that same ancient event, I believe that our confidence in God can sustain us through the random and inexplicable’ “God where are you...?” valley’s of life. When we find ourselves praying to the very God that didn’t come through for us to begin with...the way we wanted Him to, the way we expected Him to...we’re in good company. Peter, Andrew, James, John, Mary, Martha...the men and women whose faith laid the groundwork for the evangelization of the entire world...their irrational, in spite of, “where are you God...?” faith...is why Jesus’ message made its way into the 21st century.


Every day on this side of the ground is a win.
